Cambridge, MD – Cambridge International announces the recent appointment of Tracy Tyler to the Maryland Economic Development Commission (MEDC). Hand-chosen by Maryland Governor Martin O’Malley, Tyler was selected for this distinguished opportunity due to her established leadership skills and dedication to fostering a successful international business within Maryland.
The MEDC was founded in 1995 by Maryland’s Department of Business & Economic Development (DBED). The 29 members of the committee are selected by the Governor for three-year terms, to be involved in strategic planning, marketing, and policy development, for economic growth across the state.
In April of this year, Governor O’Malley released a five-year strategic plan for the MEDC, focusing on four major areas for advancement and improvement of the economic environment of Maryland: positioning the state for future growth; building and protecting the leading drivers of economic growth in today’s economy including the life sciences and information technology sectors; embracing regional and economic diversity; and making it simply easier to do business and live in Maryland. Tyler will be involved in open discussions with many of the state’s top business leaders to examine and refine these goals, creating executable strategies and initiatives.
“I am honored to be chosen to participate in this Commission,” says Tyler. “It is important to our community, and to the state, to foster jobs and futures for the people who call Maryland home.”
Tyler’s insight and vision from leading a world-class, global corporation will be an asset to the Commission. Recently, Tyler was also awarded Business Woman of the Year for Dorchester County. She is on the Board of Directors for the Dorchester County Chamber of Commerce, a member of the Board of Directors for the Eastern Shore Chapter of the Junior Achievement Program, and a member of the Dorchester County Superintendent’s Advisory Council.
