Cambridge, MD – As part of its 100th Anniversary, the Cambridge International headquarters and manufacturing facilities have undergone a massive renovation. After an exhaustive state-sponsored energy analysis, recommendations for energy efficiency and sustainability practices were incorporated into the project.
On Monday, August 22, 2011, at 10:30a.m., the company, led by CEO and President Tracy Tyler, will convene for an official ribbon-cutting to mark the grand opening of the new facilities to employees, customers and the public.
Utilizing the results of the state survey, significant upgrades were made to the electrical systems, and a new high-efficiency HVAC system was installed. Additionally, lighting systems were upgraded to the most energy-efficient lamps and fixtures. The renovations also included a full facelift of the front façade of the office building as well as significant changes to the office areas, creating more organized and ergonomic office and meeting spaces.
Many areas of manufacturing were streamlined through Lean Sigma manufacturing practices, the methodology that minimizes the resources needed for production and eliminates waste, in the form of materials and man-hours. A new warehousing facility was also completed this summer for inventory and storage.
The changes to the Cambridge International headquarters exemplify the company’s dedication to its employees and its commitment to sustainability, providing a better place to work and live on the Eastern Shore of Maryland.
