CAMBRIDGE, MD – As part of Cambridge International’s continuing support of our local community and education, the company has sponsored several charitable events to raise money for the Dorchester County Chapter of the Junior Achievement (JA) Program.
Cambridge raised over $2000 for JA, presented as a check to Jayme Weeg, President of the Eastern Shore chapter, on February 3, 2011 at the North Dorchester Middle School. “With the help of the Cambridge International donation along with other community donations, we are able to provide these programs and materials to all of the students,” says Weeg.
Vaughn Evans Sr., Principal of North Dorchester Middle School, agrees, saying “We are very excited about being able to provide this program to every single student and we wouldn’t be able to without the generous donations of Cambridge International and the community.”
Junior Achievement was developed to help students from kindergarten through high school to understand money, financial responsibility and the economy. Many employees at Cambridge volunteer their time to teach prepared lesson plans to students on Maryland’s Eastern Shore, providing them with the tools they will need to understand money and business.
“We need to prepare kids to be ready for their future and teach them basics for a rewarding future beyond the normal academics,” says Cambridge International CEO Tracy Tyler, who is also a member of the JA Board of Directors. “Education is a key focus for us in the community. The children in the community represent our future.”
